Anney is a multi-genre soprano, living and working in Northeast Ohio. Anney has also had significant training in contemporary styles including Jazz and Broadway, in addition to her study of Classical voice.
Anney received a BA in Music from the University of Akron where she studied voice and piano. During that time Anney also began to explore other styles of voice, including Jazz.
Anney has sung with many professional organizations including the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, Singer's Companye (Akron) and VOCI (formally The Canton Civic Opera.) She is actively auditioning and performing in the Greater Cleveland area. She has worked both as a performer and Music Director at local theatres including Cassidy Theatre (Parma Heights), The Beck Center (Lakewood), Chagrin Valley Little Theatre (Chagrin) and Carnation City Players. Anney was also the Production Coordinator for Songs for a New World a SPAS Productions.
In addition to focusing on growing as a singer, both operatic and contemporary, Anney is currently working on her M.A. in Music and Worship, while continuing graduate classes in Speech Language Pathology and Singing Health. It is her hope that she will be able to combine her love of singing and the workings of the human voice to have a successful career in the developing field of Singing Health.
Anney teaches all levels of voice, specializing in Opera, Music Theatre, and Jazz as well as piano and woodwinds at her studio. Anney is also working to incorporate CCM and Singing Health techniques into her teaching method. Anney believes that focusing on the voice and the body together as a whole instrument makes stronger singers in all styles. She has complete all 3 levels of Somatic Voicework and teaches based on the principles of Jeannette Lovetri. Anney is also a member of The Voice Foundation, NATS, MTNA and OMEA/NAfME.
In addition to teaching privately, Anney also teaches group music classes. She has developed Songbird Music and Movement Classes for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. She pulled from her knowledge and experience teaching Kindermusik, to create unique music and movement type class. She intertwines music, dance, yoga, instruments and toys to create a fun and safe environment for our youngest students to develop a love for music. Anney will also be teaching our new Ukulele classes beginning in February.
Director and Pianist
Anney is currently an accompanist at Mogadore High School/Middle School, Louisville High School/Middle School as well as accompanying her own students for events and performances. Most recently she served as Music Director for Rubber City Theatre's youth production of Suessical and Kismet Theatre's inaugural production of The Wizard of Oz. Anney will also be directing our youth musical workshop and serving as the director for that performance.
Anney has served as the Music Director at The Church of the Covenant in Canton where she also played the piano and worked at learning to play the organ. In the past Anney has served as a Music Director for The Beck Center's Youth Theatre and Chagrin Valley Little Theatre. Anney was most recently an Artist-in-Residence Voice instructor in East Holmes Local Schools and Jackson School for the Arts.
